Infectious disease of the nervous system is still a problem in the United States and other industrialized countries. This class will review the presentation, pathogenesis, and diagnosis of various infections of the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as briefly describe the mostly medical treatment for these illnesses. In some situations, co-management and support of the patient will be discussed. Also, there are many other types of infections which can be transmitted from patient to patient, or doctor to patient, in the chiropractic office. We will discuss these disorders as well as universal precautions to avoid the spread of disease to chiropractic patients.
